Monolord
Monolord
Formed in 2013, this band is made up of Swedish rockers Thomas Jäger, Esben Willems, and Mika Häkki. Both Jäger and Willems were in the Swedish boogie rock band Marulk and started Monolord as a side project as a way to play some more heavier tunes, they quickly added Häkki (from The Don Darlings, ex Rotten Sound) and realized that they had something very special between the 3 of them. Monolord became very real very quickly and recording commenced in early 2013. Thomas Jäger had not sung in a band before this one, but you would never know it by the sound of it. Having met RidingEasy Records head hauncho Daniel Hall over instagram in May of 2014 when the record was ready to listen to, RidingEasy was one of the first that it was sent to and picked up the band immediately after hearing the finished album Empress Rising that then was released worldwide on April 1. The second album, Vænir, was released worldwide April 28th.

Frayle
Frayle
Doom/Stoner Duo Frayle was formed in Cleveland in 2017 by Sean Bilovecky and Gwyn Strang.

Frayle’s “lullabies over chaos” approach to songwriting allows them the freedom to explore what is possible with heavy music. They strive to balance the heaviest of riffs with the approachability of Gwyn’s haunting vocal melodies.

Complex layering and tone stacking is a hallmark of their music. Each musical element is thoughtfully composed resulting in a unique combination of midrange-heavy guitars, syncopated rhythms, and unexpected vocal progressions.

Gwyn tells stories of heart break, anger, hypocrisy and resolution, asking the audience for empathy, and in turn inspiring vulnerability.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Sleep, Portishead, Beastwars, Blonde Redhead, Kyuss, Massive Attack, Down, Chelsea Wolfe, and many more, Frayle exists at the intersection of doom and dream pop.

Released on April 1st, 2018, the White Witch EP opens drop tuned and eerie and continues to draw the listener in with heavy slow riffs, light spooky vocals and doleful lyrics.

Work has already begun on a new full length album with release pending this summer. Frayle promises to further explore the relationship between crushing riffs and ethereal fragility.
