Cub Sport
Cub Sport
Cub Sport are an independent pop group from Brisbane, Australia. In 2016, Cub Sport's
break-out single “Come On Mess Me Up” caught the attention of The 1975's Matty Healy
and scored Cub Sport an invitation to join the UK band for their 2016 Australian arena tour.
The pop-ballad proved to connect similarly across Australia and landed a much-coveted spot
in triple j's hottest 100 coming in at #24 after high rotation airplay and receiving over
4,500,000+ streams on Spotify and 400,000+ YouTube views.
Musical successes aside, Cub Sport are keen humanitarians. In mid-2016 band members Tim
and Sam came out as gay and in a relationship. Alongside out-and-proud guitarist/vocalist
Zoe, the band use their platform to speak out against homophobia and continually strive to
develop and encourage a safe community on the band's social media channels as well as at
shows. Cub Sport are now launching into the next phase of their career with their sophomore
album, ‘BATS’. The group have cemented themselves as one to watch internationally,
receiving glowing reviews from The Fader, Huffington Post, NYLON and i-D. Largely
recorded and produced at home by lead singer/songwriter Tim Nelson, the much-anticipated
follow up record displays a new side of Cub Sport. While still deeply rooted in pop, the new
album indulges soul and R&B influences, making for Cub Sport's most honest, intimate and
sexiest release to date.
Monique Atreece Zahir, better known as M/\Z and TenderTones by those she invites to Tender.Land, is a 23-year-old, multi-genre singer, dancer, and producerfrom Cleveland, Ohio. Her sound and tonality, based in soul and experimental sonics, along with herever-changing punk-goth aesthetichave thrust her into a universe of loyal listeners and broad ranging tastemakers. She has garnered considerable buzz from various independent single releases, including her flip of PartyNextDoor’s “Persian Rugs” (30k + plays), the hauntingly infectious “Obsolete”, and her newest single and visual for“Hideaway”, which candidly takes listeners on a curiousride of seduction. M/\Z’ relationship with music dates back to her father, also a musician, and his studio, where her first visit as a 1 year old resulted in her picking up a loose microphone and gurgling into it. From there, exploration of sound began. With influences ranging from Pink Floyd to Erykah Badu and Mariah Carey, and everything in between, M/\Z insists on never allowing her art to remain stagnant or predictable. “Atthe end of the day, I want people to feel. Feel love. Feel pain. Feel sexy. Feel fuckin sad. Really, just feel me. And I go into every song with that approach. ‘Genre’ really isn’t my thing, and I really don’t like to be called R&B, etcjust because I look a certain way”M/\Z is gearing up for her Winter 2016 release of her first proper project, “Pale Moon,” featuring production by Ethereal from upstart Atlanta label,Awful Records. The sound of the LPis a departure from her more trap-based, yet still featuring her slinky vocal inflections and infectious melodies.
