Unsane
Unsane
Formed - 1988 in New York.

Noise rock trio of Chris Spencer (The Cutthroats 9), Vincent Signorelli (Swans) and Dave Curran (The Cutthroats 9 & The J.J. Paradise Players Club). The original lineup consisted of Spencer, Pete Shore and drummer Charlie Ondras, who passed away from a drug overdose in 1992.

The video for the song "Scrape" (from their 1995 album Scattered, Smothered & Covered) received a lot of airplay on MTV and became their biggest hit to date.

Note - in order to avoid confusion with the heavy metal band of the same name, they often use the suffix "NYC".
BIG|BRAVE
BIG|BRAVE
Montreal, Quebec, Canada, three-piece BIG|BRAVE plays sincere, long-form out-rock that ventures in to different directions — at times mournful and unsettling — their music plays out in to moon-bleached grunge where serene vocals crumble over scraping guitars bled of melody. Sometimes it's the sound you don't make. Big|Brave chooses their silences carefully, oscillating between sparse, gentle arrangements and deep swells of noise. They are patient, their crescendos tidal and graceful. Heavy drums come up against haunting vocal melodies. Moody guitar tones swirl. Slowly they recede into something more atmospheric, a quiet that hangs thick like smoke. Something important is offered in the spaces between sounds. Listen for it, feel. It waits.
Child Bite
Child Bite
Child Bite is a Detroit-based punk/metal/noise rock band formed in 2005. Currently signed to Phil Anselmo's Housecore Records as well as Indianapolis-based Joyful Noise Recordings, their music consists of atonal guitar melodies, distorted bass, frequent rhythmic shifts, and frenzied, howling vocals. Their most easily identifiable influences include '80s hardcore (Black Flag, Dead Kennedys) and '90s alternative (The Jesus Lizard, Faith No More).

Their sound has been described as "enormous and predatory, from the baleful rhythm section to Shawn Knight’s [frightening vocals]" (Fine Print Mag, 2013). They are acknowledged by authorities in the genre as having a "horrorshow/slasher-flick" flair, which descriptors apply to their records, their album art and their music videos. Their visual aesthetic is directed by their vocalist, Shawn Knight, who works professionally as a graphic artist.

Child Bite has over a dozen releases of varying lengths, including a triple split 7" w/ David Yow & Thurston Moore, as well as a 5" EP of Anal Cunt songs featuring Phil Anselmo on vocals. Their latest record, a gatefold double 45 RPM EP titled "Strange Waste," has received support from almost every notable metal publication (Decibel, Metal Hammer, Revolver, Invisible Oranges, etc). The music video for single "Ancestral Ooze" was directed by ex-Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Jeff Tuttle and features a cameo by Buzz Osbourne (the Melvins).
